I have had the honor of playing a wide variety of roles and I pride myself on my range. As far as I am concerned, few things prove as fascinating as diving under the skin of a character and existing in their circumstance. In some projects, it is for just a few minutes...in others, I have had the luxury of time and exploration. I continue to strive for the best, most honest work and to have a great time doing it.
A collection of moments from recent projects.
Carol learns that her son is in danger.
A detective gently encourages an illegal immigrant to tell the truth about a murder he witnessed.
Carol and her son wrestle conflict in the aftermath of tragedy.
A self-absorbed producer does her thing.
Carol returns home after identifying her husband's body.
A cold mother trumps a fragile daughter.
A self appointed "smut vigilante" announces the success of her current censorship expedition (from the film The Kids Are Up To Something).
Ms. McBurney shines in this production. (She) takes what could have been
a role written for ashrew and makes her rabid with ferocity, but allows us to see the venerability underneath…
I look forward to seeing (her) in more.
-TIMES SQUARE CHRONICLES
Though the play’s themes are explicitly portrayed, lending itself to a black-and-white discussion of the women’s struggles in the workplace, Rebeck’s nuanced writing,
aided by the skill of McBurney’s performance, develops a more profound understanding of those women’s experiences. In particular, McBurney’s interactions with Mendez, the only other woman in the show, complicate the show’s view of women in the workplace through their increasingly antagonizing attitudes towards each other.

Lesley McBurney as the protagonist gives an authoritative and persuasive performance as woman filled with righteous anger.……a more nuanced performance
that brings Eliza back into focus. She ends up a heroine for our time.
-THEATERSCENE.NET
Rebeck's writing, Mamet-esque and tack-sharp, is a pleasure to behold. This production, directed by Lorca Peress, is well done with
standouts in the cast, Lesley McBurney as Eliza and Ean Sheehy
as her smart but cowardly colleague, Ben.

Awarded BEST ACTRESS - LAFA
"Luxi Xiao's PULSE is a heartfelt story about a mother (Carol) who is coping with the loss of her husband and her son's sexual identity following the tragic Orlando shooting in 2016. Lesley McBurney is absolutely stunning as Carol, and her chemistry with Sebastian Coates is outstanding. It all feels incredibly realistic. ...Pulse is thought provoking, taking the audience on a very emotional ride."
